WHAT IS PROJECT CAPE? 

Project CAPEProject CAPE is a corporate giving program initiated by Runzheimer International working in conjunction with other Racine County businesses to support public schools who improve student achievement.

PURPOSE OF PROJECT CAPE

To make this vision a reality, businesses will provide dollars to schools who work as professional learning communities to raise student achievement, close the learning gap between the economically disadvantaged and their peers, and prepare all students for post-secondary education, work, and citizenship in the 21st century.

PROJECT CAPE’S GIFTING PROCEDURES

Who is eligible to apply for financial assistance?

Individual public schools in Racine County, Wisconsin, individual grade level or departmental school teams, or districts as a whole can completea formal written request (download application form).

Project CAPEIs there a range in dollar amounts of gifts?

Amounts of gifts will vary according to needs identified in proposals, benefit to students’ achievement, money available, and other criteria as determined by CAPE leadership. 

What are the evaluation criteria?

* Proposals that reflect a grasp of concepts described in Project CAPE’s four “Exhibits”  (Click on “Operating Principles” at the left side of the website homepage, and read exhibits 1 - 4 for background knowledge.)

* A well defined problem based on student data and other evidence of need, a goal with clearly defined actions to bring desired results

* Methods to assess progress and report actual student outcomes

* Level of collaboration, innovation, change

* Feasibility of project and likelihood of success in improving student achievement

* Impact of total project relative to costs

What is the application process?

  1. A school, (or grade level, departmental team, or district), identifies the student achievement challenge most in need of support from Project CAPE.
  2. The school completes the application and submits application with accompanying materials to Project CAPE by mail (see contact page for address). 
  3. Project CAPE determines proposal winners.  Every attempt will be made to notify schools of financial awards within four weeks of the application deadline.  Application deadlines are December 1, April 1, and August 1.  If the deadline falls on a weekend or holiday, applications are due on the last business day prior to the deadline.  
  4. If the request is approved, the school and Project CAPE will partner.  At an initial meeting discussion will focus on the key elements of the school’s proposal.  The dialogue will frame the future work together, building on the school’s strengths to maximize student learning.  Decisions will be made on the best methods for regular communication to benchmark progress, site level coaching or consulting, and resource support.
